Calendar for May 15 Saint Athanasius the Great
On this day, the translation of his relics and the miracles that occurred over them are celebrated. Saint Athanasius the Great left behind a large number of writings and a whole treasury of spiritual pearls, e.g.: “Our home is the Church, and in it we should also be of one mind, because in this way we believe that the Lord will dwell with us, as he said: I will dwell in them, and live in them (II Cor. 6:16), and: Here I will dwell, for I have taken pleasure in it (Ps. 132:14). And where is this ‘here’ if not where the same faith and piety are preached?” (Thomas to the Antiochians, 1). Or: “God is in no need of anyone; He is sufficient for Himself and filled with Himself, and in Him all things are contained, or rather, He gives being to all things (Against the Greeks, 28).
