Calendar for May 19 - Righteous Job
Descendant of Esau, Abraham's grandson. He lived in Arabia around 2,000 years before Christ. His father's name was Zaret, his mother Vosor, and his full name was Joav. He was a God-fearing and rich man. When he was 79 years old, God sent upon him, through Satan, the severe trials described in the "Book of Job". In one day he lost all his children and all his property. Then his whole body was covered with wounds. He was lying on the garbage dump and using a piece of tile to wipe the pus from his wounds. He bore all the suffering patiently, without grumbling at God. And God restored his health, gave him a much larger property than he had and 7 sons and 3 daughters were born to him, as many as he had before. He lived 248 years, all glorifying God. Job is considered a prototype of the suffering Lord Jesus Christ.
