Calendar for November 11 Saint Avramius the Recluse
From the city of Tenia, in Mysia, in Asia Minor. His parents forced him to marry, but he left his bride, parents, and home, and went away on a great ascetic journey. He spent 50 years in asceticism. During that time, he only left his cell twice: the first time, at the command of the competent bishop, to convert a pagan village to the Christian faith, and the second time to save his wayward niece Maria. Maria was left fatherless at the age of seven and her friends brought her to her uncle Avramius. After 20 years of asceticism, she was deceived by the devil and sinned. After 2 years, Avramius returned from the inn to his previous ascetic journey and - great repentance. Saint Avramius reposed in the Lord around the year 360, and Saint Mary 5 years later.
