Calendar for November 13 The Holy Apostles Stachys, Amplius, Urbanus and Others
Of the Seventy. Stachys was an assistant to Saint Andrew the First-Called, who appointed him bishop in Byzantium. Together with Saint Andrew, he built a church in Argyropolis. After 16 years of episcopacy, he peacefully reposed in the Lord. Amplius and Urbanus also assisted Andrew the First-Called and he appointed them bishops, Amplius in Lydda, or Diospolis of Judea, and Urbanus in Macedonia. Both suffered martyrdom for the Lord Jesus Christ. Narcissus was appointed bishop in Athens by the Apostle Philip, where he also suffered martyrdom. Apelles was bishop in Heraclius in Thrace, where he peacefully reposed; Aristobulus, brother of the Apostle Barnabas, preached the faith of Christ in Britain and died peacefully there…
