Calendar for November 22 Saint Nektarios of Aegina
He was born in Silivria, Thrace, in 1846 in a poor home. He became a monk in the monastery of Chios in 1876. As Bishop of Pentapolis, in a short time he gained great reputation both among the people and in the Church. But, by God's Providence, he constantly encountered human injustice. He endured all the harassment with great humility, meekness and non-maliciousness. Constantly enduring humiliation, strong in speech and mild in nature, he gathered around him many disciples, from ordinary people to bishops and university professors. He founded a monastery on the island of Aegina, not far from Athens. He reposed in 1920. His relics remained intact for 20 years, as if he had fallen asleep, releasing holy myrrh. Countless people find healing through them, especially those suffering from cancer.
Holy Martyrs Onesiphorus and Porphyry. Venerable John of Kolovo. Venerable Matrona of Constantinople. Venerable Euthymius of Dochia and his disciple Neophytos. Saint Symeon Metaphrastus. Venerable Theoktis of Paros.
