Calendar for October 20 Holy Martyrs Sergius and Bacchus – Srdjevdan
They were great at the court of Emperor Maximian. The emperor respected them for their wisdom, courage and loyalty. But when he heard that they were Christians, he was angry and invited them to offer sacrifice to idols with him. They refused to obey him and the emperor, enraged, ordered them to take off their military uniforms and dress them in women's clothes. They also put an iron ring around their necks and led them through the streets of Rome. Then he sent them to Asia, to the governor Antiochus, who became so thanks to their recommendation to the emperor, and he first put Bacchus to torture. They beat him until his soul came out of his dismembered body. They put iron sandals on Sergius, studded with nails, and drove him to the city of Rosaf in Syria, where he was beheaded. They suffered around the year 303.
Holy Martyr Polychronius.
