Son of fisherman Zebedee and Salome, daughter of Joseph, betrothed to the Blessed Virgin Mary. He followed Jesus with his brother Jacob. He attended the Transfiguration with Peter and James. Afterwards he preached the Gospel in Asia Minor, mostly in Ephesus. The Gentiles bound him and sent him to Emperor Dometian in Rome.
