Calendar for September 2 - Holy Prophet Samuel
The fifteenth and last judge of Israel. He lived around 1,100 years before Christ. He was born in Ramatu (Arimathea). Mother Anna, barren, wept him from God and, when he was 3 years old, dedicated him to God. At the age of 12, he had a revelation from God about the punishment that was to come to the high priest Elijah because of the wickedness of his sons Hophni and Phinehas. And the Philistines killed the sons of Elijah, he died when he heard it, subdued Israel and seized the Ark of the Covenant. After 20 years of slavery, God sent Samuel to the people of Israel to preach repentance. And the people rejected the idols and recognized Samuel as a prophet, priest and judge. Before his death, against both his will and God's will, at their persistent request, he left the people king Saul, and then David.
