They were sisters by birth from Bithynia in Asia. Raised in the Christian spirit, they withdrew into the wilderness to spend their lives in asceticism, purity, and virginity. They devoted themselves to great labors, fasting, and prayer, such that God granted them the gift of working miracles. They soon became renowned, and great crowds flocked to them seeking help. However, the governor Fronton brought them to trial. He was astonished by the beauty of their countenances; though they were ascetics with emaciated bodies, their faces were radiant, illuminated by God's grace. The governor promised to send them to the Emperor, who would give them in marriage to his noblemen. But when he saw that his words were in vain, he subjected Menodora to torture first; and when she breathed her last, he put the other two sisters to death through torture as well. They suffered martyrdom between the years 305 and 311.
