Calendar for September 23 Holy Martyrs Minodorus, Metrodorus and Nymphodorus
Sisters born in Bithynia in Asia. Raised in the Christian spirit, they withdrew to the desert to spend their lives in asceticism, purity and virginity. And they devoted themselves to great labor, fasting and prayer, so that God would grant them miracles. Soon they became famous, and a large crowd flocked to them to seek help. But Prince Fronton brought them to court. And he was surprised by the beauty of their faces. Although they were ascetics and withered, their faces were bright, illuminated by God's grace. The prince promised them that he would send them to the emperor, who would marry them to his nobles. But when they saw that his story was in vain, he first put Minodora to death, and when she expired, he tortured the other two sisters to death. They suffered between 305 and 311.
