Calendar for September 30 The holy martyrs Faith, Nada and Love and their mother Sophia
They lived and suffered in Rome. Sophia, a widow, firmly established herself and her daughters in the faith of Christ. At the time when the tormenting hand of Emperor Adrian reached out to the charitable home of Sophia, Vera was 12, Nada 10, and Ljubav 9 years old. When they were brought before the emperor, all four, holding hands, professed their faith in Christ and refused to make a sacrifice to the idol goddess Artemis. When their suffering began, the mother encouraged her daughters and prayed to God that they would persevere to the end. The torturers subjected them to severe torture: they beat them, cut their flesh, threw them into the fire and hot pitch... In the end, they cut all three sisters. The mother buried the dead bodies of her daughters, stayed at the grave for three days and nights, and gave her soul to God herself.
Holy Martyr Agathoklia. One hundred and fifty-six holy martyrs of Egypt. Holy Martyr Theodotia.
