Calendar for September 6 Holy Hieromartyr Eutychius
One of the lesser apostles, a native of Sevastopol, a disciple of the Holy Apostles John the Theologian and Paul. Although he was not counted among the Seventy, he was called an apostle because he was a disciple of the great apostles and because he showed apostolic zeal in the evangelical ministry. Ordained a missionary bishop, Saint Eutychius traveled a lot. In prison, angels of God brought him bread. When they scraped his tortured body with an iron scourge, blood flowed from it, which had an unusual, fragrant smell. Then they threw him into the fire, but suddenly there was thunder and a heavy rain with snow fell from the sky and extinguished the fire. When they threw him before the lions, they became meek like sheep before him. Finally, they cut it down, at the end of the 1st or beginning of the 2nd century.
Holy Martyr Tation. Holy Martyr Syra. Venerable Arsenius of Komelia. Saint George of Limniot (Jezera).
