DURING THE ASSOCIATION LAST, THERE IS A PRAYER TO MOST HOLI MOTHER OF GOD EVERY EVENING
The Assumption Fast is from August 14th to 28th.
In the Church of St. Nicholas, a PRAYER to the Most Holy Mother od God is served every evening at 9 pm.
BRIEF HISTORY OF THE MOLEBAN:
“According to oral tradition, in the 17th century the Most Holy Theotokos protected Primorje from the plague, and since then this MOLEBAN has been served every evening during the Assumption Lent as a sign of gratitude to the Mother of God. It is, in fact, a moleban from the end of the Hours, but modified. Steps with a prokeimenon were added before the Gospel as an introduction to the reading of the Gospel. After the ‘Our Father’, the luminary of the Assumption is sung – ‘‘Apostles from the end’’, ‘‘Opryata lik apostolskij’’ (from the 9th song of the canon) and ‘‘Sladost angelov’’ (the regular luminary of Monday and Tuesday). During this time, incense is burned around the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos. The melodies are very archaic and, thanks to the proto Bogoboj Milošević (+1974) transferred to the then of the novice priest Momčilo Krivokapić and preserved to this day.
The prayer service was also served in Zadar, Dubrovnik, Šibenik and many other coastal places.
In Kotor, it was served in such a way that the entire canon was sung in Church Slavonic. The novelty that came about after the death of Protopresby Bogoboj is that the Serbian language was introduced and that only the irmos and verses "The Most Holy Theotokos save us" are sung, and the priest READS the troparia of the canon in Serbian in front of the icon. Thus, the entire Church participates in the singing, making small prostrations during the singing of the verses. Previously, while everything was sung in Church Slavonic, the service behind the choir was not so dynamic, the doors were closed, and the priest only read the Gospel from the door and descended after the "Our Father" to the incense during the singing of "Apostles from the end".
The kneeling prayer was also read in the middle of the church before the icon of the Mother of God. It was found that after that it was sung: ''Vladicice, Vladicice, receive the prayer...'' and ''All who trust in you place their trust'', which was replaced by the more powerful hymn ''To the Chosen Voivode''. The icon before which the prayer is served is the work of some good Cretan master of the 18th or 19th century. It is set in silver. We have no information about which icon was served before, especially since the fire in the church of St. Nicholas in 1896 destroyed many icons. This is a common practice. This icon has been in the Treasury for over a year and is brought out exclusively during the service of this prayer.
