EPIPHANY CELEBRATED LITURGICALLY IN THE CHURCH OF ST. NICHOLAS IN KOTOR
On January 19 according to the new calendar, and on January 6 according to the old calendar, the Orthodox Church celebrates the great Christian holiday of Epiphany. On that day, Orthodox Christians, and all the people of God, greet each other with the ancient greeting “God has appeared – Truly God has appeared”.
On Epiphany, water is blessed in all holy churches after the Holy Liturgy.
This was the case today on this great Christian holiday in the Church of St. Nicholas in the Old Town of Kotor, where numerous believers received the Holy Sacrament of Communion.
The Church has summarized the essence of the meaning and description of this great feast in the Epiphany troparion:
In the Jordan, when You were baptized, O Lord,
the worship of the Trinity was revealed,
for the voice of the Parents bore witness to You,
calling You the Beloved Son,
and the Spirit in the form of a dove,
confirmed the truth of the words:
Christ, God, Who hast appeared and enlightened the world, glory to You!
The Holy Liturgy on the Epiphany was served by the hierarchal vicar of Kotor-Tivat, Archpriest-Staurophorus Nemanja Krivokapić, Archpriest-Staurophorus Milenko Jekić, Archpriest Nenad Kalem and Priest Vojislav Mijatović.
