ILINDAN LITURGICALLY CELEBRATED IN THE CHURCH OF ST. NICHOLAS IN KOTOR
The God-seer, miracle worker, zealot of the faith of God, the Holy Prophet Elijah, was liturgically celebrated today, with the communion of numerous believers, in the Church of St. Nicholas in Kotor.
The Holy Liturgy was celebrated by the Archbishop's Vicar of Kotor-Tivat, the parish priest of Kotor, the Archpriest - Stavrophor Nemanja Krivokapić and the priest Vojislav Mijatović.
“Today the Church celebrates the most extraordinary man who ever lived on this earth of God, the most extraordinary man in the human race. So extraordinary, and so extraordinary, that the Lord took him up bodily to Heaven,” said Venerable Justin of Celijski

“At Horeb he spoke with God and heard the voice of God in a quiet, light breeze. Before his death he took Elisha and appointed him as his successor in the prophetic calling; he parted the waters of the Jordan with his cloak; and finally he was taken up to heaven in a fiery chariot with fiery horses. On Tabor he appeared together with Moses to our Lord Jesus Christ. Before the end of the world Elijah will appear again to suppress the power of the Antichrist,” (Revelation 11).
Troparion (tone 4):
In the flesh an angel, the foundation of the prophet, the second forerunner of the coming of Christ, the glorious Elijah, the grace of Elisha, sent down from above, to drive away the sick and cleanse the lepers: and to those who honor him he pours out healings.
