
Metropolitan Ioannikije met with the ambassador of the United States of America in Montenegro
Cetinje, August 27, 2024.
His Eminence Archbishop of Cetinje and Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral Mr. Joanikije met today in the premises of the Metropolitanate in the Cetinje Monastery with Her Excellency the Ambassador of the United States of America to Montenegro Mrs. Judy Reising Reinke and her associates.
In the conversation, the interlocutors agreed that in Montenegro, as a multi-ethnic and multi-religious state, churches and religious communities have their significant social role, not only in matters of religion, but also in creating and maintaining an atmosphere of peace, understanding and cooperation of all citizens of Montenegro.
Ambassador Rajnka conveyed the USA's interest in issues of religious freedom and overall stability in the region and emphasized the need to respect the religious and other human rights of all without distinction, both by the state and among citizens and religious communities.
Metropolitan Joanikije introduced the ambassador to the most important religious, humanitarian, educational and cultural activities of the Metropolis, particularly expressing the commitment to religious life, as the foundation of all other endeavors and efforts.
The Ambassador and the Metropolitan also exchanged views on other current issues concerning the role of the Church and religious communities in contemporary Montenegrin society, agreeing that dialogue is the best tool for overcoming all challenges.
