On the feast of St. Sergius of Radonezh and St. Euphrosyne of Alexandria, His Eminence Archbishop Mark of Berlin, Metropolitan of Germany of the Russian Orthodox Church, celebrated the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy in Cetinje Monastery, with the concelebration of the brethren of the Cetinje Monastery and the parish priests of Cetinje.

His Eminence Archbishop Joanikije of Cetinje, Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral, extended a warm welcome to Metropolitan Mark, the clergy and pilgrims, and expressed his gratitude to Metropolitan Mark for his brotherly love and close ties with the Serbian Orthodox Church.

“We know that as a spiritual shepherd you take great care of your flock entrusted to you by God, and it was not far from you, for the spiritual benefit of your faithful, and also for the sake of brotherly love, to come to us and pray to God together in this ancient holy family. We know of your closest ties with the Serbian Orthodox Church since ancient times, ever since the time of our father Justin, whom you knew personally and from whom you received beautiful teachings, but most importantly, you received his fatherly love and attention, and you have testified to this to us many times. And later, you continued those ties with his disciples, our hierarchs, but also with the entire Serbian Orthodox Church:”

Metropolitan German Marko thanked His Eminence Metropolitan Joanniki for the blessing for serving the Liturgy and expressed his joy at returning to the Cetinje Monastery.

"I see the enormous feat that you are carrying out here with the Seminary, with the students, with the monks.

We prayed for your deceased monk Ilija and we know that it is always a loss for the monastery when one of us goes to heaven. However, we gain a prayer leader and representative for our family and especially for our monastic family.

We ask you to leave us the opportunity to visit the holy places and to see the wealth of Orthodoxy here with the pilgrims."
