Prince Filip Karađorđević visited the Cetinje Monastery
Prince Filip Karađorđević is on a private visit to Montenegro. On that occasion, he visited the Cetinje Monastery, one of the most important monasteries of the Serbian Orthodox Church, which is dedicated to the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
"Prince Filip was welcomed by the Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral, Mr. Joanikije, after which he attended the evening service with prayer. After the prayer service, a meeting was held between the Crown Prince and Metropolitan Ioanniki, who expressed his satisfaction at the visit of His Royal Highness. Prince Filip said that it was a special honor for him to have the opportunity to meet with Metropolitan Ioaniki and to be in Cetinje, the capital of Montenegro, which has great historical significance, and one of whose symbols is the Cetinje Monastery," the statement said. .
"I am aware of the importance and historical ties between my family and Cetinje. For this reason, every visit to Cetinje means a lot to me and evokes special emotions," said Prince Filip Karađorđević.
He also pointed out that it was a great blessing that he had the opportunity to attend the divine service in the Cetinje monastery, in addition to the life of Saint Peter of Cetinje.
"I also have special memories of the Cetinje Monastery. "One of the three famous Christian relics, the hand of St. John the Baptist, which is kept in this monastery, was brought by my grandfather, King Peter II," said Prince Philip.
After visiting the Cetinje monastery and meeting with Metropolitan Joanikij, Prince Filip also visited the Palace Church on Ćipur, where the remains of the Montenegrin ruler and founder of Cetinje, Ivan Crnojević, as well as the remains of King Nikola I Petrović and his wife, Queen Milena, are kept, reports RTCG.
