Sunday of Orthodoxy
This day commemorates the establishment of respect for icons in 843, during the reign of Empress Theodora and Patriarch Methodius, after the long persecution of icons in the 8th and 9th centuries, and that is why this week is called the Week of Orthodoxy, i.e. True faith on Sundays. How all this was exposed is in Sinaksar this Sunday. And on this day, a miracle is also mentioned with Emperor Theophilus, the persecutor of icons, whose sins were forgiven, since the Church prayed for him and he then repented.
Likewise, after classes, and before the Liturgy, or before the end of the service, on this day, in the cathedral, the competent archbishop performs the so-called The act of Orthodoxy, i.e. the archpastor goes out to the middle of the church with the priests who bring out the icons of the Savior and the Mother of God, and place them on analogies (nalonya).
By its composition, Chin is usually prayerful and thankful, and its main thought is a plea for the preservation of peace in the Church, and for the conversion of the misguided to the path of truth.
Holy Liturgy in the Church of St. Nicholas in the Old Town tomorrow, Orthodox Sunday, at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Vasilij Ostroški in Dobrota at 8, in the Church of St. Petar Cetinjski in Prčanje at 9 o'clock.
