The blessed seed sown in the soul of St. Cyril of Baošić and Dalmatia bore rich fruit
Sermon by the late Metropolitan Amphilochius in the Church of St. Nicholas in Baošići, October 11, 2009
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
“He who sows with blessing will also reap with blessing.” So says the Holy Apostle Paul in the epistle we read today, and the Gospel tells us the event when the Lord was on the shore, and asked Simon Peter, the disciple whom He had chosen among the first to be His apostles, to enter the boat with Him. And then from the boat the Lord spoke for a long time and spoke to His disciples, and after the sermon was over He said to Simon Peter: “Put out into the deep and let down your nets.”
And he will say: “Lord, we have been fishing all night, both I and those who are in the boat, and we have caught nothing.”
And the Lord said to him again: “Cast the net, Simon.” And he cast the net, and the boat was filled with fish, so many fish that they could hardly pull it to land, so they called their neighbors to come and help them. And Simon, astonished at what had happened, fell down before the Lord so that the Lord could speak a great and holy word to him: “Simon, until now you have been catching fish, but from now on you will be catching people, and I will make you fishers of souls.”
And so it happened.
