The holy martyrs of Jasenovac
More than seven hundred thousand people died at the hands of the Ustasha during the Second World War in the camps in Jasenovac, Donja Gradina and Glina. Together with these martyrs, the Serbian Church also celebrates many other martyrs who suffered in the pits in Prebilovci, Jadovno, Ržani and other places known only to God.

Holy new martyrs, pray to God for us. You happily crossed the Red Sea, escaped Pharaoh's persecution and entered the promised glory. The apostates from the true Christ were your transgressors; Christ's tormentors and your tormentors. The Lord allowed them to cover your bodies with murders and wounds, but did not allow them to touch your souls. Your souls have been purified by torment like silver in the fire; it is a great secret of God's wisdom. You have left the earthly church, and you have entered the heavenly Church; enrich the first with glory and the second with numbers. So just as you testified your love for Christ by martyrdom, so show your love for us by praying for our salvation...
