The icon of the Mother of God pours myrrh while there are floods in Russia

Orenburg, Orenburg аrеа, Russia, April 18, 2024
An icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary pours myrrh in the home of a local parishioner amid heavy floods that have engulfed the Russian regions of the Urals and southwestern Siberia, the Orenburg Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church announced.
The diocese writes:
Parishioner of the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas, servant of God Nadezhda, talks about the icon that her family has carefully kept for many years. When the Bolsheviks destroyed the temples in the Oktyabr district, this icon of the Most Holy Theotokos was saved from desecration. Nadezhda's mother prayed for a long time in front of the icon. It seemed to her daughters that he was talking to her as if she were alive. When her mother passed away, Nadezhda took the icon with her and now she stands in front of it in prayer.
Nadezhda, the Servant of God, testifies that at the beginning of the Special Military Operation, the icon changed its appearance and began pouring out myrrh. The same thing happened with the beginning of the floods in Orenburg.
A representative of the diocese explained to RIA-Novosti that "icons flow in times of sadness or dangerous situations, calling for a change in our attitude towards life and what is happening. The icon can also pour out myrrh to show sinners that they are committing a spiritual transgression.”
Dioceses in Russia and Kazakhstan offer comprehensive assistance to those who suffered in the floods that began in early April.
