THE INTRODUCTION OF THE MOTHER OF GOD LITURGICALLY CELEBRATED IN THE CHURCH OF ST. NICHOLAS IN KOTOR
The Feast of the Introduction of the Mother of God was liturgically celebrated today in the Church of St. Nicholas in the Old Town of Kotor.
The Holy Liturgy, with the communion of the faithful, was served by the Archbishop of Kotor-Tivat, the parish priest of Kotor, Archpriest-Staurophorus Nemanja Krivokapić and Priest Vojislav Matković.
From the Lives of the Saints – Saint Justin of Celsus: “While thus dwelling with the angels in the Holy of Holies, the Most Pure Virgin desired to live forever in angelic purity and chaste virginity. According to the testimony of the holy teachers: Gregory of Nyssa, Jerome and others, this Virgin vowed her virginity to God, because in the Old Testament it was unusual for girls not to marry, since marriage was held in greater esteem than virginity. However, the Most Pure Virgin was the first in the world to assume virginity over marriage, and having betrothed herself to God, she served Him day and night in Her pure virginity; and the Most Holy Spirit, by the will of God the Father, prepared in Her a dwelling place for God the Logos. Therefore, to the Most Holy, Consubstantial and Indivisible Trinity be glory and thanksgiving, and to our Most Pure Lady the Theotokos, the Ever-Virgin Mary, honor and praise from all generation after generation forever. Amen.”
