Calendar for April 6 Saint Artemon – (Pre-Feast of the Annunciation)
Born and raised in Seleucia of Pisidia, in Asia Minor. He lived during the time of the holy apostles. When the Apostle Paul came to that city, preaching the word of God, he noticed Artemon standing out among his fellow citizens with good deeds and strengthened him even more in the faith of Christ. Then, filled with divine wisdom, he appointed him as a shepherd and teacher to the inhabitants of Seleucia, ordaining him as their first bishop. Artemon governed the spiritual flock of Christ with love and zeal, becoming a haven of salvation for all and a miraculous healer of their souls and bodies. He cared for orphans, widows, and the destitute. Having lived his earthly life wisely and in a godly way, he passed away to eternity in a ripe old age.
