Calendar for August 13 - Holy Martyr Evdokim (The Feast of Our Lady)
Born in Cappadocia to pious parents Basil and Evdokia. He was an officer in the army of Emperor Theophilus. Keeping himself chaste, he avoided talking to any woman except his mother. He was merciful to the poor, careful in his prayers to God. He avoided parties and idle talk. The emperor appointed him Duke of Cappadocia, but he died at the age of 33. A mentally deranged man was healed as soon as he touched the saint's grave, an abducted child stood up... After 18 months, the mother of St. Evdokim opened his grave and found his body alive, without any signs of decay. His relics were transferred to Constantinople to the new church dedicated to the Holy Mother of God, which was built by the parents of St. Evdokim.
Holy Martyr Julita. Saint Joseph of Arimathea. Saint John the Exarch.
