Born in Rome, of Christian parents. When her parents passed away, she distributed all her property to the poor and became a nun. As a nun, she zealously and with great fervor preached Christ the Living God, not hiding, although they lived in a time of bloody persecution of Christians. Accused by the Roman Jews, she was brought before Emperor Antoninus, who tried to sway her from faith in Christ with flattery. Then they put a red-hot helmet on her head, but God miraculously saved her, and she left Rome. In two more cities she was brought before judges and tortured, but by the power of God she quickly recovered, performing great miracles. Finally, a certain Tarasius cut her with a sword. Saint Paraskeva suffered for Christ God in the 2nd century.
