Calendar for November 1 Venerable Prochorus of Pcinj
A contemporary of Saint John of Rila and Saint Gabriel of Lesnovski. His childless elderly parents, John and Anna, prayed to God for him. When he had studied the books, he went to the desert. He practiced asceticism in the Nagoricani and Kozjača deserts. Diogenes found him while hunting a deer. Saint Prochorus then prophesied to him that he would become an emperor, which came true. Later, Emperor Diogenes built a temple in Nagoricani, where Saint Prochorus first practiced asceticism. Then, when he found his incorruptible relics, he prayed to the saint to reveal them to him, and he built a church on the Pčinja River, today's monastery of Saint Prochorus of Pčinj. The miraculous, myrrh-flowing relics of this great saint of God are still there today. Saint Prochorus lived as a hermit and died in the 11th century.
