Calendar for November 25 Saint John the Merciful
Born in Cyprus, in a Christian princely family. He married and had children. According to God's providence, his children and wife also passed away. During the time of the emperor Irakli was elected Patriarch of Alexandria. He managed the Church of Christ in Alexandria for 10 years. He was a model of meekness, mercy and philanthropy. While serving the Holy Liturgy once, he remembered that a cleric was somewhat angry with him. And he left the Holy Gifts, approached that man and fell at his feet asking for forgiveness. When the Persians attacked Egypt, he boarded a ship for Cyprus. Along the way, he fell ill and when he arrived in his hometown, he surrendered his soul to the Lord. It was in the year 620. His miraculous relics were transferred to Constantinople, then to Buda-Pest and finally to Pressburg.
