Because of his wisdom, courage, physical strength and beauty, he was respected even by the Tatar Khan. Feeling that his end was approaching, he tonsured a monk with the name Alexy, received communion and - breathed his last. It was in 1263, when he was 43 years old. At the funeral, as if alive, he opened his hand and took the farewell letter from the metropolitan. By order of Tsar Peter the Great, in 1724, his relics were transferred from Vladimir to Petrograd, to the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, where they remain today.
