Calendar for September 19 The Miracle of the Holy Archangel Michael
Saint John the Theologian prophesied that a spring of miraculous water would open near Hierapolis, which was soon fulfilled. A pagan in Laodicea had a mute daughter. The archangel Michael appeared to him in a dream and told him to take her to the miraculous spring near Hierapolis. When she drank the water from the miraculous spring, the girl spoke. Then her father and she and their entire household were baptized, and there they built a church dedicated to the Archangel Michael. The boy Archippus later came there to practice asceticism. The pagans diverted the nearby river to drown the spring and the church, but at Archippus' prayer, a chasm opened in the ground, into which the river sank, plunging, and they called that place Honi (Plunging). There Saint Archippus reposed in peace when he was 70 years old.
