Calendar for September 24 Venerable Theodora
At the instigation of a sorcerer, she committed adultery. Immediately, her conscience began to torment her. And she cut her hair, put on men's clothing and entered the male monastery of Oktodekat, under the name Theodore. With great effort, fasting, vigil, humility and weeping repentance, she amazed all the brethren. When a harlot slandered that she had become pregnant with her, she did not want to make amends. Expelled from the monastery, she lived in the forests for 7 years, caring for the harlot's child. There she overcame strong demonic temptations. Then the abbot of the monastery accepted her back, where after 2 years she reposed in the Lord. Only then did they see that she was a woman. Her husband came to the funeral and remained in his wife's cell until her death. Saint Theodora had great grace from God. She reposed in 490.
