SAINT VASILIJE OSTROŠKИ LITURGICALLY CELEBRATED IN THE CHURCH OF THE SAME NAME IN DOBROTA

The feast of Saint Basil of Ostrog was liturgically celebrated today in the church of the same name in Dobrota.

The liturgical celebration, with a procession around the church, was led by the hierarchal vicar of Kotor-Tivat, the parish priest of Kotor, Archpriest - Stavrophor Nemanja Krivokapić, with the concelebration of Archpriest - Stavrophor Milenko Jekić, Archpriest Nenad Kalem and Priest Vojislav Mijatović.

Father Vojislav addressed the faithful who, even today, traditionally gathered in large numbers in the shrine, where the belt of Saint Basil of Ostrog is kept.

“Christ is risen, brothers and sisters! Here is another witness of the Resurrection of Christ today, a true example of the encounter between mortal man and immortal God.
A man from our race who became like God and became a witness to his death and resurrection.
What can we say about Saint Basil that has not already been said, or what can we say about something that cannot even be explained or conjured up in our words?
To be and remain a man, an Orthodox Christian, at that time, in the era of Turkish slavery, spiritual cooling and a period of fear for existence, let alone for anything else, hunger, powerlessness and impotence, was too difficult, let alone to be a bishop, and what kind of bishop at that.
The transition from Tvrdoš to the Ostrog sanctuary and the Ostrog cave and rock warmed by the love of God all those years was not easy at all.
That is why we say that St. Basil is a witness to the resurrection of the Lord, and not only of the Resurrection but also of the birth, and that rock, that cave in the Ostroš sanctuary only reminds us of that Bethlehem cave where it all began.
Today, dear brothers and sisters, we celebrate a God-receiver, St. Basil of Ostroš. A saint who was a courageous seeker of God during his lifetime who found the Lord.
The presence of the noble and philanthropic power of God's love has been manifested for centuries through the holy relics of this holy man, testifying to the blessed joy of man's encounter with his Father.
St. Basil, partaking of the "bread that came down from heaven" (John 6:23), the living Christ, himself became a witness to the will of our Heavenly Father, Who wants all people to salvation. The power of life, the power of the presence of the Holy Spirit, which is felt next to the ark of the Ostrog miracle worker, confirms the truth of the Lord's words "that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him has eternal life." (John 6:22)
Today there is a great celebration in the Ostrog Monastery, but also here in Dobrota, and God only knows how many other churches and monasteries that have received their protector, their guardian angel in St. Basil, and here every year more and more and more solemnly we welcome and celebrate the temple feast of St. Basil the Ostrog Miracle Worker.

May the Lord, through his prayers and the prayers of other saints from our family who have pleased God, grant us His grace and His help, to grant us spiritual and physical strength to persevere on our Orthodox path, as our ancestors persevered, to remain and survive in these holy places, having God before us as our protector, for, as the Holy Scripture says: “If God is with us, who can be against us?” Therefore, in order to have God with us, brothers and sisters, we must be with God in our deeds, in our words, in our thoughts, in our feelings, to leave behind everything that is sinful, that is transient, that is mortal, and to hold on to those eternal values that our glorious and holy ancestors have left us and taught us.

May the Lord grant, through the prayers of Saint Basil of Ostrog, that this temple and this city and our entire people may serve their Lord, the Risen Lord, for many, many hundreds of years, and thousands of years, so that when we leave here, He may receive us into His heavenly Kingdom, where our saints are, so that we may glorify the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit with them throughout all ages and all eternity. Amen,” said Father Vojislav.

Today at 4 p.m. the AKATHIST TO Saint Basil is served, and at 6 p.m. VESCHER.
