Seventh Ostrog Half Marathon: Winners David Nikoli and Luiza Gega

On April 14, the seventh Ostro Half Marathon was held on the path from the Cathedral Church of St. Basil in Nikšić to the Ostrog Monastery, under the auspices of the Municipality of Nikšić and the Metropolitanate of the Montenegrin Littoral, with the support of the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the ASCG, and in the technical organization of the "Nikšić" Athletic Club. over 550 competitors from 15 countries of the world took part: Albania, Malta, Turkey, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Russia, Lithuania, Ukraine, France, Slovenia, Czech Republic and Montenegro.
The competitors were greeted by the Vice President of the Government of Montenegro and the Minister of Sports Dragoslav Šćekić and the President of the Municipality of Nikšić Marko Kovačević, who opened the event and gave the start to the start of the race. Before the ASCG competition, the following were present: president Milorad Vuletić, vice-president Igor Pešić, general secretary Milan Madžgalj, national team selector Osman Erović and Milena Mudreša, who was the technical delegate of the Balkan Athletics Federation.
In front of the Municipality of Nikšić, the competition was attended by the vice-president Zoran Tomić, the director of TO Mitar Barać and the advisor to the mayor Vojin Striković.
Milan Madžgalj was the organizational delegate of the Balkan Athletics Federation, and Todor Brajković was the ASCG delegate at the competition.
David Nikoli (Albania) won first place in the overall men's ranking with a score of 1:10:07. The second place was won by Luke Mikallef Perkone (Malta) with a result of 1:10:41, while the third place was won by Bahattin Uney (Turkey) with a result of 1:11:01.
For women in the absolute category, Luiza Gega (Albania) triumphed with a result of 1:17:12. The second place went to Marinela Nineva (Bulgaria) with a result of 1:19:42, while the third place went to Pinar Demir (Turkey) with a result of 1:27:58.
The mayor of Nikšić, Marko Kovačević, presented prizes to the best, as well as a special silver medal with the image of St. Vasilij Ostroski.
As part of this year's "Ostro Half Marathon", the official Balkan and Montenegrin half marathon championships for 2024 were held.
David Nikoli from Albania won the men's race at the Balkan Championships with a time of 1:10:07. The second place was won by the athlete from Malta Luke Mikallef Perkone with a result of 1:10.41, while the third place went to the athlete from Turkey Bahatrin Uney with a result of 1:11.01. As for female athletes, the champion of the Balkans was the athlete from Albania, Luiza Gega, with a score of 1:17:12. The second place was taken by the athlete from Bulgaria Marinala Neneva with a result of 1:19:42, while the third place was won by the Turkish athlete Pinar Demir with a result of 1:27:58. In the men's team competition, the champions of the Balkans were athletes from Turkey (Bahattin Uney and Mahsum Deger), second place went to athletes from Bosnia and Herzegovina (Emir Hastor and Ilija Jukić), while third place was taken by Montenegro (Željko Dabović and Miloš Vojvodić ).
The champion of Montenegro for the year 2024 was Ivan Bubnov, an athlete from AK "Milenijum" from Podgorica with a result of 1:13:01, ahead of Željko Dabović, a member of AK "Sparta" from Podgorica, with a result of 1:17:00 and Miloš Vojvodić, a member of AK "Nikšić". from Nikšić with a score of 1:23:35. In the women's category, Slađana Pejović from AK "Nikšić" triumphed with a result of 1:32.03, ahead of the athlete from AK "Sparta" from Podgorica with a result of 1:39:21 and Vesna Pavlićević, a member of AK "Milenijum" from Podgorica with a result of 1:43 :59.
