Calendar for September 7 Saint Apostle Titus
One of the Seventy. Born in Crete. In his youth he studied Greek philosophy and poetry. After a dream, he began to read the prophet Isaiah, which made him doubt Hellenic wisdom. When he heard about Christ, he went to Jerusalem with some other Cretans. Hearing the words of the Lord and seeing His works, his heart was drawn to Christ. He was baptized by the Apostle Paul, who called him his son (Titus 1:4) and brother (Cor. 12:18). He traveled a lot with the Apostle Paul, who appointed him Bishop of Crete. He witnessed the suffering of his spiritual father and teacher in Rome, and buried his body. Then he returned to Crete, where he baptized the Gentiles with great success and governed the Church of God. He reposed when he was 94 years old.
