On the occasion of the service of the temple, Metropolitan Joanikije served in the Church of St. George in Orahovac
His Eminence Archbishop of Cetinje Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral, Mr. Joanikije, served, on the occasion of the service of the Church of St. George the Victorious-Djurdjic, the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy in the Church of St. George in Orahovac-SPCO Orahovac-Perast.
Metropolitan Joanikije addressed the faithful with a speech after the Liturgy and the cutting of the slava cake, emphasizing that today we celebrate the memory of the transfer of the relics of the Holy Great Martyr George from the place where he suffered to the city of Lida, where his grave and his holy relics, as well as the ancient church dedicated to him, are located.
"Everything we know about Saint George can be summed up in one word, and that is love for Christ the Lord. He suffered in such a way that both angels and people admired him, and he was above all full of the holy Orthodox faith. He was inspired by the love of God. He clothed himself in purity, in the grace of the Holy Spirit, he was filled with that love that was ready to sacrifice itself, just as the Lord Jesus Christ sacrificed himself out of love for the human race, for us and for our salvation. He accepted the sacrifice of the cross in order to save the human race in such a way, in order to bring us into the arms of God in such a way with his sacrifice and his love and the grace of his Holy Spirit. Thus, the Holy Great Martyr George was filled with the love of God, the love of Christ that is ready to bear witness to the holy faith.
