Calendar for May 19 Righteous Job
A descendant of Esau, Abraham's grandson. He lived in Arabia about 2,000 years before Christ. His father's name was Zareth, the mother of Bosor, and his full name was Jobab. He was a God-fearing and wealthy man. When he was 79 years old, God, through Satan, sent upon him severe trials described in the "Book of Job". In one day, he lost all his children and all his possessions. Then his whole body was covered with sores. He lay on a garbage dump and wiped the pus from his wounds with a piece of tile. He bore all his sufferings patiently, without murmuring against God. And God restored his health, gave him much greater possessions than he had, and 7 sons and 3 daughters were born to him, as many as he had before. He lived 248 years, all the while praising God. Job is considered a prototype of the suffering Lord Jesus Christ.
